Cobia monastery is located in the homonym commune of Dambovita county and is unique in the context of the existing monuments, through the decoration of the outside,unprecedented in our architecture . Situated in the south-west of the county, on the county road 702 E, in a specific landscape of the Field of Gaesti, covered by the brook of Cobiuta’s waters, the village offers the vizitors a string of wood churches (four ), all dated at the end of the 18th  century, with planimetrical developments specific to the religious wooden architecture from Dambovita county,through original, architectural approaches, a real frame for the experienced. The Cobia monastery , sanctuary for the monks, functioned until the impropriation of monasteries’ wealth , moment when , having been abandoned by the Greek monks ,it became a myr church . It is situated at 7 kilometers north- east from Gaesti and at 25 kilometers south-west from Targoviste city, in the „Manastire” („Monastery”) village, on the Gaesti – Targoviste road. The „Manastire” („Monastery”)  village lies on each side of the road in a large valley, between two hills of low height, covered with an oak forest.
